Over the long warm summer months, New Zealanders spend endless days on the blue waters of New Zealand’s oceans. We have a secret fishing spot which we call Snapper Rock. It’s a place you can relax, kick back and let the sound of nature wash over you. If you get it right, you may even catch some Snapper to enjoy with your evening Sauvignon Blanc.
Snapper Rock has crafted a range of affordable New Zealand wines that truly express the unique terroir and marine climate of New Zealand’s two major wine producing regions; Marlborough and Hawkes Bay.
The company is proudly owned by Anna and James Leary and a small number of loyal and passionate New Zealanders who believe in the brand and what we do. We mainly focus on Marlborough wines (Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Rose, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir) and round out our range with a coastal Pinot Gris. We have both a presence domestically in New Zealand and internationally in markets such as the UK, Hong Kong, China, Australia, Canada and Europe.
Our signature Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from our 8ha block in Marlborough’s stunning Waihopai Valley - we call it Snapper Rock’s ‘ika vineyard’, ika meaning ‘fish’ in Māori. The 2022 vintage the vintage in Marlborough was excellent. Harvesting took place throughout late March and early April. Picking at cool temperatures early in the morning ensures we retain optimal freshness and acidity in the fruit. Our wine is then pressed at Spring Creek vintners and fermented in stainless steel tanks under the watchful eye of Digger Hennessey – with our winemaker Cory Hall advising remotely from Auckland.
