Chateau La Freynelle is part of Véronique Barthe which is established in 1789 when Jean Barthe, the founder, chose the gentle valleys of the Entre-Deux-Mers at Naujan-et-Postiac, in the region of Bordeaux, to plant his first vines.

Since then, The vineyards of Vignobles Véronique Barthe span 80 hectares in the heart of the Entre-Deux-Mers around the villages of Targon, Faleyras, Daignac and Espiet. The parcels are planted on outcrops of limestone clay, the key to a great terroir. They sit on softly rolling, mainly south-facing hillsides in a harmonious landscape of gentle, undulating valleys. Of an average age of 25 years, these vines produce white and red grapes of great quality.

The vineyards passed from father to son for seven generations: from Jean to Pierre, from Pierre to Marcel… until Véronique Barthe, the first girl in the family since the French Revolution, inherited the family estate in 1990. She has devoted all her passion and energy to giving new impetus to the estate, by applying her exacting standards and personal, feminine touch.

Tasting Note:
The Red Bordeaux from Château La Freynelle, whose terroir covers around 60 % of the vineyard, is without any doubt an epicurean wine. It is distinguished by a diverse aromatic palette with the emphasis on fruit expression, and fresh, delicate aromas that spring from the marriage of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Expressive aromas of red fruits, red berries, cherries, vanilla, hints of oak & spices. Rich flavor of ripe fruits on the mouthfeel. Tannins are fully melted, smooth & very approachable. The wine is marked by both roundness of the Merlot & the backbone strength of the Cabernet Sauvignon. Tasty red wine.

Food Pairing:
BBQ meat, deep fried food, tapas, grilled chicken breast, pizza.
