A story of passion, dedication, and especially a great love for vineyards and their traditions. The company's business philosophy is based on quality, research, long-lasting knowledge, age-old customs, respect for the land and its balance, and staying in step with genuine agricultural and enological expertise.
All these values make up a rich and complex patchwork of stories, elegant olden tales that sometimes get lost over time, like the ones grandparents might have told in front of a warm fireplace on cold winter nights, sharing their feelings, their attachment to the land and its sovereign rules, traditions, and a respect for past and future generations.
It all started in 1935, when Prince Amedeo of Savoy-Aosta and Viceroy of Ethiopia planted the first vineyards on his property between Florence and Arezzo to celebrate having taken over the Ethiopian Empire. Called the “Vigna dell’Impero” (Vineyard of the Empire), it is home to an ancient Sangiovese clone, which ended up being the only one of its kind. Twenty years later, it inspired Architect Alberto Moretti Cuseri to plant other vineyards and to fully dedicate himself to his passion for viticulture, giving impetus to what today is the Tenuta Sette Ponti.
In the 1950s, Architect Alberto Moretti Cuseri acquired the first 55 hectares of land directly from Princesses Margherita and Maria Cristina of Savoy-Aosta, daughters of Prince Amedeo of Savoy-Aosta. He dedicated himself to his greatest passions at the estate: the production of wine and olive oil, and hunting. Thanks to the great suitability of the land, he began working the vineyards to produce grapes to sell to producers, but he didn’t make his own wine.
Fast forward to the 90s, Alberto’s son Antonio Moretti Cuseri, driven by a passion and an interest in wine he had since he was young, took control of his father’s winery, and worked alongside the best viticulturists and enologists to evaluate the suitability of the land for the production of quality wines, thus launching his own brand, the birth of Tenuta Sette Ponti. Released his first label in 1998, the Crognolo, which is made from clones of the historic Sangiovese vines in the estate’s oldest vineyard, Vigna dell’Impero.
Since then, the vision for the winery is consistently adhered to, maintaining the high-quality direction, staying true to the roots of the family, boasting an international flair with recognition all over the world, and becoming symbols of Italian excellence and authentic style. The Moretti Cuseri family’s wines have become mainstays in the lifestyle, fashion, and event industries as well.
Tasting Note :
Pure Sangiovese, vinified in stainless steel, which helps maintain its great freshness, with fruity hints of wild strawberries and floral aromas like violet. Fresh and balanced on the palate, it boasts elegant tannins and a nice return of fragrant fruit.
The wine is dedicated to Pallino, a farmer who cared for the vineyards in the 1950s. A wine that represents the historical continuity of the winery and the traditions of the area.
Food Pairing :
Lightly cooked meat dishes, pasta dishes, hamburgers, risotto & rice dishes
