Bordeaux is a wine region in southwestern France that is famous for producing some of the world’s most prestigious and highly recognizable wines. The wine regions of Bordeaux are a large number of wine-growing areas centered on the city of Bordeaux, where each has their own unique styles.

The Bordeaux wine region is, in general, divided into several subregions with 60 appellations, producing red wines, whites wines and sweet wines, that include Saint-Émilion, Pomerol, Médoc, Graves, etc. In Medoc, the more specific commune of Paulliac, Margaux, St-Estephe & St-Julien, are well known for having most wines being listed in the 1855 Classification, with the likes of Chateau Lafite, Chateau Latour, Chateau Margaux, Chateau Mouton, together with Chateau Haut-Brion from Pessac-Leognan in Graves, south of Bordeaux City, being the most sought-after premium wines. And not forgetting the famous sweet wines of Sauternes & Barsac, that uses botrytised grapes for those luscious rich whites.
